Our "She Shelters" project is an award-winning menstrual hygiene solution to help keep girls in school. Our projects have provided education, equipment and facilities for more than 4,000 students to date. The project received the Swiss Water Partnership Water Challenge Award in 2022 and the Distinguished Service Award from the Government of Malimba, Sierra Leone.
We devised and implemented a clean water ecosystem for the Malimba Community School. A sustainable solution, the system includes a borehole, solar powered water pump, filtration, drinking and hand washing stations. Access to clean water keeps students hydrated, healthy and in school.
We provide counseling and an annual scholarship awarded to a promising female to attend university.
We provided tools and funding to create a school communal learning garden. Students learn valuable agricultural and life skills, and contribute to food security for the surrounding communities.
Our first event raised funds to construct handwash stations for rural schools. Though a simple intervention, access to water and hygiene is strongly linked to success in school.
